Background

L.U. Simon Builders Pty. Ltd. was established as a building and construction company in 1955. The company was owned and controlled by Professor L.U. Simon, the founding Professor of the School of Building at The University of Melbourne.

The activities of L.U. Simon Pty Ltd were taken over by L.U. Simon Builders Pty Ltd (the present company) in 1983. This company was established expressly for the purpose of introducing employee involvement in the ownership of the business. This change enabled Peter Devitt and Les Gordon, two senior managers and long serving employees, to become shareholders with Professor Simon.

In 1986 Peter Devitt and Les Gordon acquired Professor Simon's interest upon his retirement. In July 1996 two additional long term employees, Terry Lewis and Jim Moschoyiannis, became shareholders of the company. Frank Materia and Kane Devitt also became shareholders in July 2001 and July 2005 respectively.

Since inception the Company has developed a broad base of experience in all types of building construction involving a wide and varied client base in the commercial, industrial, residential and institutional market. L U Simon Builders Pty Ltd have consistently demonstrated a flexible approach to building based on a team approach and as a result have developed and maintained a reputation for outstanding performance.

We have demonstrated and continue to be willing to explore and advise on innovative approaches to the building process and construction methodology.
